Twitter has been distributing ads from Chinese state media criticising a Hong Kong protests, as speckled by a criticism of amicable media bookmarking site Pinboard, run by businessman and developer Maciej Ceg?owski.

The posts are from China’s Xinhua News Agency, that is state-run. “Two months on, a sharpening assault in Hong Kong has taken a complicated fee on a amicable order,” one twitter reads, adding that “all walks of life in Hong Kong called for a stop to be put on a blatant assault and for sequence to be restored.”

Ceg?owski, who attended a protests, described a promoted tweets from Chinese outlets as “lies.”

“I only came home from a totally pacific impetus where presumably a million Hong Kong residents came out, with no military in sight, to call for simple approved rights, ” he wrote. “What greets me is true adult lies from Xinhua about “bands of thugs”, pleasantness of Twitter advertising.”

It’s not transparent how prolonged a ads have been running, or accurately where in a universe they’ve been distributed regulating Twitter’s selling tools.

Twitter was not immediately accessible for criticism when contacted by Business Insider.
