Each week 4 Clarion Ledger sportswriters — Hugh Kellenberger, Antonio Morales, Will Sammon and Brody Miller — discuss a opposite subject associated to Mississippi, a SEC or a inhabitant college scene. We call it Slack Chat, given we speak in Slack.

hughkellenberger: Guys, spring football started this week during Ole Miss and in a few weeks it’ll start during Mississippi State. So with that in mind, and given it’s a South and it’s always football season, we wanted to ask we guys about your opinions on open football. First of all, does any of this matter?

amorales: Yes. In Ole Miss’ box it does.

brodymiller: Tell us why, Antonio. (Alley oop!)

willsammon: For a teams, sure. But from a big-picture standpoint, we (media, fans and a people) don’t unequivocally learn a whole lot.

amorales: Ole Miss is traffic with a postseason ban. That’s weeks value of use it missed out on final year. So there’s a bigger importance on open given a younger guys that would get reps during that play prep don’t get that.

hughkellenberger: There’s apparently value in carrying your group use together 15 times during a spring. What we consider we reject is a ritual of it all, and sanctimonious like each group in a nation hasn’t been operative out together how many times a week (just underneath a instruction of a strength and conditioning coaches) given a impulse it got behind on campus in January.

There are only 15 practices that those of us outward a module choose/pretend to caring about.

amorales: It’s flattering opposite with a conduct manager and position coaches out there, no?

Ole Miss: Offseason actor tracker — keep lane of who left and who’s entrance behind for 2018

willsammon: There are a few things, too, to keep an eye on for specific teams. How healthy is Nick Fitzgerald? Who is changing positions underneath new coaches or during slightest training new positions only in case? There’s some value there.

brodymiller: I’m admittedly a open football nerd. we like examination that immature guys are building that we didn’t get to see final season. Like Will said, that guys are being changed around, etc.

For MSU for example: Okay, what kind of things is Bob Shoop doing with a defense? we wish to know that.
