Kim Kardashian Vogue backlash: Sarah Michelle Gellar cancels subscription –

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star’s dream came true and she tweeted her excitement after it was unveiled – not everyone felt the same

Sarah Michelle Gellar has urged her fans to boycott US Vogue after Kim Kardashian was put on the cover.

The former ‘Buffy’ star announced she is cancelling her own subscription, hinting she disapproves of fashion editor Anna Wintour’s decision to put The Keeping Up With the Kardashian’s star and Kanye West on the cover of magazine’s April issue.

The 36-year-old actress wrote on Twitter: “Well……I guess I’m cancelling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???” Many of the Buffy star’s followers agreed with her, but Kim’s best friend Jonathan Cheban was unimpressed by her comment.

He retweeted the message, adding: “Do u matter? (sic)”Kim and her rapper fiancé’s front cover caused shockwaves when it was unveiled on Friday, as Anna was previously said to have declared the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star, 33, would only appear in the magazine “over her dead body.”

And it appears the fashion icon predicted a backlash, as she defended her decision to feature the couple in her monthly editor’s letter, insisting Kanye, 36, didn’t have to “beg” her for the opportunity.Meanwhile, sources told E! News that 21-year-old model Kate Upton, who first appeared on the front of the magazine last year, was dropped as the April cover star in favour of Kim.

But Hildy Kuryk, Communications Director at Vogue, insisted: “We are all huge supporters of Kate here at Vogue and have been thrilled to feature her numerous times in the past year, both on the cover and inside the magazine. There was never a cover commitment made to Kate, and we look forward to working with her in the future.”Kim Kardashian has gone up in the world of celebrity – the reality star has appeared on her first Vogue cover with fiancé Kanye West.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was reportedly desperate to appear on the front of the magazine and her dream has now come true.

And in a nod to her relationship with rapper Kanye, Kim is wearing a beautiful wedding dress.

Linking to the picture on the publication’s website, Kim tweeted on Friday: “This is such a dream come true!!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover! O M GGGGGG!!! I can’t even breath!”

Kanye added: “#TRILL thank you @voguemagazine.”

And to go with the glamorous April edition cover, Vogue published a behind the scenes video from the shoot on their website.

The clip features Kanye’s song Bound 2 and shows the couple posing together with their eight-month-old baby North.

Kim is dressed in white throughout the video while Kanye is wearing one of his familiar black outfits.

The pair look at each other adoringly as they appear with their little daughter.

The pictures were taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz who has photographed big names including John Lennon, Lady Gaga and Barack Obama.

On the cover, it states: “Kim & Kanye their fashionable like and surreal times #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple.”

Famed editor Anna Wintour writes in her editor’s letter for the US publication: “Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, on that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it.

“I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?)”

Kim and Kanye had reportedly met up with Anna on a number of occasions in a bid to convince her to put them on the cover but the magazine boss insists she wasn’t put under any pressure.

She wrote: “As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancee on Vogue’s cover.

“He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true.”
